Trip description
Luquina is a village located at the end of the Chucuito peninsula 67 kilometers from the city of Puno (2 hours in car or boat). It has friendly people, beautiful views, housing and food services adequate to give you a memorable service where we get to know more about the agricultures, farmers and fishermen who live here.
Itinerary
Day 1: Puno – Uros -Luquina
For this 2 day long cultural tour we leave Puno in our private boat at around 7:30 a.m. with direction to the floating islands of Uros and then to the beautiful island of Taquile which is famous for its weavings who were declared as “Cultural heritage of the World” by UNESCO. We can also appreciate the beauty of the lake while having a local lunch at a restaurant. Around 2:00 p.m. we leave the port of Taquile and head towards “Luquina Chico” located on the Chucuito peninsula, here we are welcomed by the family that will host us, all dressed up in traditional clothing. After installing us in the houses (all with private bathrooms and warm water due to solar panels) we take a walk towards the viewpoint to enjoy the sunset with our hosing family. At the end of the day we have dinner with our new family.
Day 2: Luquina – Puno
After an early breakfast with the family we have some free time to do the daily activities in the farming and agricultural sector or if you want to you can bike or kayak (make the request in advance to organize it with a specialized guide). We enjoy a delicious lunch buffet at noon (food from the region) in the restaurant “La Casa del Pescador” (the Fisherman’s house) before returning to Puno where we will be arriving at 4:00 p.m.
